The Thumb Area Football and Cheerleading League is pleased to provide a Football and Cheerleading Program for the youth of our communities.  Every year our volunteers help keep our registration costs down and helps TAFL purchase additional new equipment for our players and cheerleaders..

It is so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day activities of life.  You go to work, go to school, go out to eat, hang out with friends or do whatever it is you do for both fun and survival.  However it is a good idea to get beyond yourself and do something for other people and children in our communities.

We often think of how volunteering can benefit our neighborhoods and communities, but we don't always realize how much we are going to personally benefit when we serve as a volunteer.   As a TAFL community volunteer you not only give yourself the opportunity to meet dozens of new people you would never have had the opportunity to meet before, you also make good friends.  A TAFL volunteer makes a difference in the growth and development of our players and cheerleaders minds and bodies and helps to mold them toward a positive future.  A TAFL volunteer shows by example the spirit of giving back .

Until you get involved volunteering you have no idea as to how much work is involved behind the scenes of an areas youth program.  The board of directors manage and set up operational budgets and have to stick to that budget to keep costs down.  Volunteers serve on committees,  orders and distriibutes equipment and uniforms, secures and maintains the fields, operates registration, schedules games,  organizes and participates in safety initiatives, does fundraising and works on many other needed activities.

There may be nothing quite as rewarding as serving as a volunteer for an activity that your own child, grandchild, niece, nephew or friend are involved in.  Not only are you serving as a great role model, you are also enjoying special memories with them and they will always be grateful as a result of your involvement in their activities.   As a result of your involvement they may in turn decide to serve as volunteers in their own communities when they grow up.

Volunteers are the backbone of the TAFL program.  It takes a LOT of good people to operate TAFL and all the communities involved.  With out people like you sitting on boards, registering players, coaching, becoming team parents, working concession stands and doing all the numerous things needed to be done to provide a successful and safe program the whole TAFL program would come to a screeching halt!
