Welcome to the Thumb Area Football League

The 2008 Season

My excitement for the 2008 season surpasses the hard fact that I don’t have any sons playing in the league for the first time since I joined it. Lucky for me I have had the opportunity to get close to many of the players families who have made me feel like family. As I enter my 4th year in the league and second year as President of the Thumb Area Football League, I am entrenched in a number of the families from all communities already.  This is due in part to the fact that we have a very strong and knowledgeable Board of Directors serving our league. The relationships, teamwork, and overall depth of the league are truly overwhelming and support our vision.

  • The relationships continue to grow in accordance with the size of our organization. There is a sharing of knowledge among communities for the greater good of the overall league. The benefits of these relationships will be passed on through our children for years to come.
  • The teamwork continues to help shape our youth’s social skills, confidence, and discipline while learning one of America’s favorite sports; Football. This teamwork comes from all areas in our communities, such as volunteers, parents, local businesses, the school systems and local papers.
  • The overall depth of our league continues each year by adding the necessary internal and external resources. The internal resources I refer to are some of our board members who have been around since the inception of the league. While the entire Board of Directors play a significant role in our success, the original folks include Mike Dey, Bruce and Stephanie Davis, Anthony Edwards and Fidel Mendoza.  External support comes in the form of adding new board members and other resources within all of the participating communities.

We add further credibility to the league by joining the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), fielding Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Referees, improving background checks, and having Emergency Medical Technicians available for each game.

Thank you for all your support!

As in past years our board would like to thank all of our sponsors, parents, friends, relatives, school systems and news journals for all of their support. Our pride grows each year as we watch our young football players and cheerleaders enter the field with the same courage and passion for the game some of their hero’s portray when they play.

We look forward to the continued support.
